Are you a passionate equine massage therapist looking to take your skills to the next level?

I am excited to offer mentorship sessions to fellow practitioners who wish to advance their skillset. Having dedicated years of refining my skills, and deepening my understanding of equine wellness, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise with individuals who share my love for horses and are eager to excel in the field of equine massage and bodywork. Mentorship is invaluable for skill development and gaining practical experience. Whether you’re looking to refine your massage techniques, or explore the intricacies of equine bodywork, the sessions are tailored to your unique needs and aspirations, cultivating a compassionate approach to working with horses.

Most massage therapists will agree that while the work is very rewarding, it comes with its own set of challenges. This is particularly true for those who have just ‘completed’ the certification process (I say completed in inverted commas, because really, it’s only the beginning!). Building a client base is daunting as it takes time to build a reputation and trust in the equine community. Gaining experience and building a repertoire is a very gradual process. The real learning begins once you get out working with horses with a variety of complaints, sometimes seeing things for the first time, and you really hope to make a change.

But let’s take a look at why we took this route in the first place.

For many therapists, it was that one horse they owned who got them asking questions. Scrolling through Google at night “why does my horse…”. Pondering as to why there has been a change in behaviour or drop in performance. Blaming your riding ability, or lack of facilities. It’s a constant game of trial and error because while you did your best you didn’t know then what you know now. We have all been there. Investing in supplements, new tack, changing bits, taking lessons, changing trainers etc etc but that sense of unease is always there and so you keep searching. And that is how the passion grows.

Perhaps you have one of those horses in your care right now. Quite often horses come to us or stay with us for a reason… And this is our starting point. I want to join you and your horse. I want to hear about your journey, your reason why, your frustrations, your rewards, your strengths and weaknesses.

The equine massage therapy industry is competitive and continually evolving. It’s essential to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques, research and industry trends, as well as investing time and effort in networking and marketing to attract new clients. This requires commitment to ongoing education and professional development. My mentorship sessions are designed to help you on your journey to reach your full potential in this rewarding career and together, elevate the standards of equine therapy.

How It Works.

After the initial connection you will receive a form to complete, which tells me about you and your horse. After I receive the completed form, I will contact you and we will arrange the session date and location. The in-person sessions are two hours in length, which will include a one hour session working on your horse. The other hour is for your specific goal outcomes. Many therapists wish to develop their field and there are you so assessment and palpation are key areas to develop. Also, of key importance is refining your massage in stretch techniques. Another key area is knowledge of anatomy, correct landmarking and knowledge of muscle function is imperative for working to a professional standard. After the session, we arrange a follow up call on zoom to  answer any questions or discuss business strategy or particular cases you would like advice on.
